Dateline 5/20/01 - - Open
House A Success (by Brenda Root)
Yesterday--Open
House--A long but productive Day for FMW and for the Board. I counted approximately
150 families in attendance. The grounds look so trim and clean thanks to the hard
work of a host of volunteers. The bushes look so good as you enter the pool from the road
and the path has reappeared. I do not know the names of all who helped but your help
is greatly appreciated. A special thanks to Paul Siebach for organizing the effort
and leading the team so well. The chicken seemed to be enjoyed by all and I did not
go home with a migraine! AMEN! and Thanks to Popeyes! The ice and lemonade was
donated. Our camera seemed to be the only real glitch in the smooth operation of the
day. Kathy and Jenny took care of the stream of members without a complaint.
Well, done! Kathy's neighbor, an expert in cameras is looking at ours. It was
purchased at the time we started the photo pass system, approximately 6 years ago and was
questionable last year but survived. We will have to see what can be done before
Memorial Day weekend. A special thanks to each of you for your commitment and
support of Open House. It was a success because of what each of you
contributed. Well Done, Brenda
Dateline 5/19/01 - - FMW Tennis Stars Advance Oakton to Regionals
CONGRATULATIONS to Ryan Chorazy, Jonathan
Sohinki, Jon Reda, Joshua Chorazy and Jeff Coyne of the Boys Oakton Tennis Team.
These young men are 5 of the 18 boys who make up the Oakton tennis team. This year
Oakton came in first place to win the District Title and will now advance to
Regionals. All of these young men have taken lessons and/or played on the boys
tennis team at Fox Mill Woods. Several have been taking lessons here since they were
9 and 10 years old. This is certainly a tribute to the fine program and coaching we
have had at our Club. As most of you know one of our tennis coaches, Brian
Tenenhaus, also benefited from our Club's tennis program. Brian also took lessons
here as a junior and went on to play high school tennis at South Lakes High School and is
now on his college tennis team. Brian also teaches during his time at college at a
local tennis club. There are also many other players, boys and girls alike, who
participate in their high school tennis teams and also compete in the USTA. We are
certainly lucky and proud to be able to play a part in enriching the lives of the young
men and women who are members of Fox Mill Wood's tennis team whether they go on to play
tennis competitively or just for sport. Once again CONGRATS to the Oakton
Tennis Team and good luck at Regionals!!!
